In life, you'll meet all sorts of friends.
The most general ones: the hi-bye friends.
-- Hi-bye friends:
The ones you literally say hi and bye to.
General questions such as "how are you?" "Have you eaten?" "Where are you going?" are your common words of exchange - nothing more.
Next level: Friends.
-- Friends:
The ones whom you share a common interest/mutual affection with. They'll be there if you need them but it's not a promise, not a guarantee, not anything. Basically you do hang out together but you may not understand one another that well.
Even further on: Close Friends.
-- Close friends:
The ones whom you are one step closer to as compared to just being friends. Whom you'll be there for when they're down, whom you kind of understand, whom youre willing to do things for and people whom you hang out with often. In times when you/they need them/you, both parties will willingly be there for one another.
And lastly: Best friends.
-- Best friends:
The definition of a best friend is with no regards of time. It just happens. In an instant. When the both of you have so much in common, time will just be an understatement. You guys will understand each other like the back of your hand, knowing each response after a sentence, and the ability to tell when something is wrong. These are the ones whom you may/may not meet often, but you know that youve got their backs anytime, anywhere - likewise for them.
It does not matter which category you fall in to as it is possible for a hi-bye friend to escalate to being a best friend while the chances of a best friend turning back into a hi-bye friend is also present. What matters most is that you stay true to both yourself and the people who matter to you.
If a conflict or difficult situation with someone dear to you arises, the best solution will be to voice out. Because my dear, nothing matters more as compared to communication and of course, trust. I believe that these are very simple yet effective way in maintaining a friendship.
Likewise in a relationship, these are also key points to note.
There will be days where you will doubt your existence or importance due to the fact that everyone will definitely prioritize someone over you at times. And this perhaps, will make you feel unloved or even neglected. Remember this, let nature take its course. And one of the most cliché sentence of all times, if it's meant to be, it will be.
Why bother stressing yourself which in turn creates barrier and unhappiness?
That's all for my thoughts tonight, have a good night! x
